TECH RIDER CONCEPCION HUERTA
Biography
Mexican photographer, composer and video artist Concepción Huerta has a keen sense for captivating audiovisual collaborations and an indefatigable activity in noisy territories that always conjure up fascinating sound stories. Years of documenting the country’s experimental scene have given her eyes and ears a unique way of seeing and hearing.
As a multidisciplinary artist, Concepción Huerta pursues different disciplines such as sound design, installations, spatial concerts, speculative narratives and immersive experiences, in exploring the relationship between silence and noise, political space and the sonic body as a form of expression.
She focuses on resonance, acoustic space and the physical and psychological effects of sound.
These sonic investigations are carried out with recordings of everyday objects (Foleys) and instruments such as synthesizers, which, played and manipulated with tape recorders and edited tapes, create atmospheres based on elements of ambience and noise.
She creates soundscapes that are less attributable to a particular musical genre, but rather represent the construction of an imaginary story. Her preoccupation with synthesis, electricity, tension, formats and materiality is part of her approach to sonorities.
Concepción Huerta explores sound at the most fundamental level and investigates how it can be translated by building technological bridges between analog and digital processes.
Together with Mexican artist Daniela Huerta (also on Media Loca), Concepción Huerta forms the HUERTA ENSAMBLE, a collaborative duo that creates sonic landscapes rooted in ecological engagement. Their practice is devoted to attentive listening and the reinvention of narratives that enable alternative forms of perception. They released their debut EP, AQVA, an improvisation recorded in January, 2022 at RTMCA studios in Mexico City, on Ensamble Records. https://huertaensamble.bandcamp.com/album/aqva
Huerta Ensamble presents SINCRONIA, a non-linear listening experience exploring the dynamic relationship between sonic and vibratory rhythms, and how they mutually intertwine through synchronicity.
